Cloisters (Small)

4th – Handleboards presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Appleby Castle. A rip-roaring, bicycle-powered all male production. Starts at 7:00pm. Contact T:07804 050 820 or book tickets at

4th 5th 6th – Potfest in the Pens, Skirsgill Market, Penrith. Every year up to 150 potters come from all over the UK and beyond to be Part of the oldest potters market in the UK. Open daily fro 10am to 5pm, adults £4.50, seniors£4, accompanied children free. Light refreshments, ample parking, dogs on leads welcome.

5th/6th – Total Warrior. Shap Abbey

6th – Duck Race and BBQ, Great Musgrave. Race starts at 12noon – River Eden, Church Field, Musgrave, BBQ at the Village Institute Field from 12:30pm. Bring your own cutlery and drinks. Adults £6, Children free.

9th – Dry Stone Walling for beginners with the Dales Young Rangers. Near Orton – bus from Sedbergh. Learn how to Dry Stone Wall with the Friends of the Lake District. To book a place, contact Rachel Alderson on T: 01969 652366 Or

10th – Appleby Agricultural Show, The Barley Field – near Appleby Golf Course. Adults £7, concessions £5, Children free.

12th – Table Top sale at Mill Gardens, Kirkby Stephen. All proceeds in aid of Great North Air Ambulance. 10am to 3pm.

12th/13th – Lowther Show

19th – Ravenstonedale Annual Open Show and Sheepdog Trials, High Lane Field, Newbiggin-on-Lune.

20th – Winton Park Gardens, Appleby Road, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4PG, are open to the public 11am to 5pm. Light refreshments available. Adult £6, Children free.
